Thyroid Update CME – A Multidisciplinary Academic Gathering at Hubballi
On 1st March, at The Hans Hotel, Hubballi, a comprehensive Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “THYROID UPDATE” was successfully conducted by the Association of Surgeons of India (Hubli–Dharwad branch) in collaboration with the Association of Physicians of India (Hubli–Dharwad branch).

The event brought together an enthusiastic gathering of Surgeons, Physicians, Endocrinologists, Oncologists, Onco-Surgeons, Nuclear medicine specialists,Head & neck surgeons, Anaesthesiologists,and Pathologists.
The CME focused on practical and evidence-based management of common and complex thyroid disorders. Key topics included Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism – basics and clinical approach, Solitary thyroid nodules, Multi-nodular goitre (MNG), Thyroid malignancies, and Thyroid disorders in pregnancy.


Expert talks were delivered by renowned faculty including Dr. Sandeep Donagaon, Dr. Suraj Kubihal, Dr. Ramesh Hosmani, Dr. Sameer Ahmed, Dr. Sanjeev Kulgod, and Dr. Sunil Gayad. The sessions were enriched by an experienced panel of senior clinicians who guided discussions with practical insights from real-world clinical practice. Post graduate students of various departments from KMCRI, Hubballi and SDM Medical College, Dharwad actively participated, bringing fresh academic perspectives, enthusiastic discussions, and evidence-based insights that further enriched the scientific deliberations and learning experience of the CME.



The deliberations highlighted common challenges faced in day-to-day thyroid management — from diagnostic dilemmas in hypo- and hyperthyroidism to decision-making in malignant nodules, including choosing between surgical and non-invasive treatment options such as radiation therapy. Special emphasis was given to the complexities of managing thyroid disorders during pregnancy. The discussions reflected a truly multidisciplinary and inter-departmental approach, encouraging collaborative patient care and updated clinical guidelines.




The program served as an excellent academic platform, promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening coordination among specialties for improved patient outcomes. It was indeed an enriching scientific feast for all attendees.
