Medical science evolves continuously, and staying updated is not just a professional responsibility—it is essential for delivering the best possible care to our patients.

I had the privilege of serving as a Chairperson during Session 9 – “Difficult Decisions in HPB Surgery: Expanding Boundaries and Improving Outcomes” on Day 2 of the 8th Annual Frontiers in Liver Disease (FILD 2026), held at Taj Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru. The conference, themed “Decoding Liver Care – Crisis to Cure,” brought together leading hepatologists, liver transplant surgeons, gastroenterologists, and physicians from across the country to discuss the latest advances in liver disease diagnosis and management.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is one of the most common forms of arthritis seen in India. Unfortunately, many people ignore the early symptoms for months or even years. They often assume that the pain is due to vitamin deficiencies, age-related changes, overwork, previous injuries, or even infections such as chikungunya.

ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೀಲು ನೋವು ತುಂಬಾ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಅದನ್ನು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. “ವಿಟಮಿನ್ ಕೊರತೆ ಇರಬಹುದು”, “ಚಿಕನ್‌ಗುನ್ಯಾ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು”, “ಕೆಲಸ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾಡಿದರಿಂದ ನೋವು ಬಂದಿದೆ”, “ವಯಸ್ಸಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಹಜ” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂಗಳುಗಟ್ಟಲೆ, ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

19.04.2026 ರಂದು ನಾವು ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಗಾಂಧಿನಗರದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಾರುತಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಉಚಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ತಪಾಸಣಾ ಶಿಬಿರವು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಈ ಶಿಬಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರಾರು ಜನ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು, ಆದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಮಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ಆತಂಕಕಾರಿ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬಂದವು.

A 23-year-old college student presented with an itchy rash over his left leg, persisting for nearly one month. The rash showed no signs of healing and was slowly increasing in size. He described a strange sensation — as if something was crawling under the skin every day. The itching was worse at night. Despite taking multiple courses of oral antibiotics and using antibiotic and antifungal creams, there was no improvement. On further history, he had recently gone for a forest trek near Belagavi, Karnataka, and recalled a possible insect bite at the same site about 45 days earlier, which had initially bled.

ವಯಸ್ಸಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮಂದವಾಗುವುದು ಸಹಜ, ಆದರೆ ಮನೆಯವರ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಗ್ರತೆ ಮಂದವಾಗಬಾರದು. 94 ವರ್ಷದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಅಜ್ಜ ನಮ್ಮ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಚಡಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಓಡಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ತ ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ನಡೆದದ್ದೇನು? 

            ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಹದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಎದೆ, ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಅಥವಾ ಕಾಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು (Fluid Accumulation) ಅಂದರೆ ಏನು? ಇದು ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ? ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಮಲ್ಟಿಸ್ಪೆಷಾಲಿಟಿ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್‌ನ ವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ಚೇತನ್ ಕೆ. ಗಂಟೆಪ್ಪನವರ ಅವರು ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ಕಂಡ ಒಂದು ನೈಜ ಘಟನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಕಾಣುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅತಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಈ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಇತರೆ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿ.ಪಿ.ಆರ್(CPR) ಟ್ಯುಟೋರಿಯಲ್, ಬೇಸಿಕ್ ಹೆಲ್ತ್ ಎಜುಕೇಶನ್ (Basic Health Education) , ಪರ್ಸನಲ್ ಕೇರ್ (Personal Care), ಪ್ರಿವೆಂಟಿವ್ ಮೆಡಿಸಿನ್ & ಡಿಸೀಸಸ್ (Preventive Medicine & Diseases), ವ್ಯಾಕ್ಸಿನೇಷನ್ (Vaccination), ಹೆಲ್ತಿ ಲೈಫ್ ಸ್ಟೈಲ್ (Healthy Lifestyle) ಎಂದು ನಾನಾ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಠ -ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಒಂದು ವಿಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಲ್ಲ.

ಉಚಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ತಪಾಸಣಾ ಶಿಬಿರ

ದಿ 30.11.2025 ರಂದು ಅಂದಲಗಿ ಗ್ರಾಮ, ಶಿಗ್ಗಾಂವಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ; ಶಿವಪ್ರಿಯ ಮಲ್ಟಿ ಸ್ಪೆಷಾಲಿಟಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ತಂಡವು ಉಚಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ತಪಾಸಣಾ ಶಿಬಿರ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.ಶಿಬಿರವು 11ರಿಂದ 1 ಗಂಟೆ ವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.
